A tribo-oxidized layer adhering on the corundum counter body after a fretting test against TiB2. 104 fretting cycles in ambient air were performed at 50% relative humidty. The periphery of the contact zone is indicated by an arrow. The doubly pointed arrow indicates the sliding direction.
